Waratah Park (Miranda Bomber’s home ground) has become the home of AFL in Sydney’s south after an announcement was made in August 2015 that $1.5 million was to be spent on a major redevelopment of the ground and its facilities.
This is the single biggest investment to infrastructure the AFL has ever made in the region.
The redevelopment work will include change rooms with a host of new amenities, a revamped playing surface and lights, new fencing around the ground, and safer pedestrian access.
The building works were completed and the new facilities opened on Saturday 6th August 2016. The resurfacing of the field, new drainage and watering services and match quality lighting are being installed over the summer of 2016/2017. The field resurfacing resulted in our field being out for action for the 2017 season. We are awaiting clearance from Sutherland Council to be allowed to resume use of the field and we will advise players and families when that has occurred.
