Miranda Bombers AFC offers opportunities for girls to participate in Australia's only home grown football code. This page contains information, resources and materials to help girls get involved in the great game of Australian Rules Football.

Please note once girls reach 13 it is the Club's preference for girls to play with our Senior Club Partner Southern Power, who run teams in the Youth Girls league. If you would like to play AFL in an older all-girls team, follow this link to the Southern Power Youth Girls web page.

Below is an extract from the AFL Sydney Juniors Rules and By Laws and the Miranda Bombers Red Book, as they apply to mixed gender teams.

"Pursuant to s.42(1) of the Sex Discrimination Act, people of one gender aged 12 and over can be excluded from participating in competitive sporting activities in which strength, stamina and physique of competitors is relevant. As a result, it is the policy of the Club to encourage girls that have turned 12 to play in the relevant Southern Power Youth Girls team. To the extent a female participant wishes to play in U12 or U13 mixed gender competitions, special consideration will be given to any such request by a female player and their parent or guardian having regard to the player’s strength, stamina and physique."
